A classic gothic

This is one of Michaels's finest, in my opinion, tied with _Black Rainbow_ for my favorite among her gothics. If you prefer her contemporary romantic suspense novels like _The Dancing Floor_, this is probably not for you. If, however, you love _Jane Eyre_ and books in the true gothic tradition--a sympathetic, adventurous heroine; a sinister villain; a bleak nineteenth-century setting; and increasing suspense and danger--this is a must-read. Michaels also offers her trademark enhancements of the formula in the shape of an engaging, humorous, and genuinely likeable hero (no brooding churl!) and welcome touches of humor. I find the heroine especially enjoyable, unlike Michaels's more recent heroines, who are more abrasive, defensive, and unsympathetic. This is perfect rainy-day or winter reading. If you listen, you can hear the howling of the wolves...

Amazing!

I have read this book numerous times, and each time it gets better. I even bought a hardcover copy because my paperback version is dog-eared and bent in several places because of how many times I have read it. The heroine in this book is especially likeable as is the hero. Even the villian is somewhat likeable because of the talent of the author. This book is in my opinion Barbara Michaels finest work and I have read all her books. Other books I would recommend by this author are "Here I Stay" and "Vanish with the Rose". Also by her other pseudonym Elizabeth Peters, I would recommend the Vicky Bliss mysteries.

The wolf within Mrs. Michaels

Sons of the Wolf has to be Barbara Michaels greatest novel yet. This novel is full of myster and drama.
The novel begins with two sisters Harriet and Ada who have just become orphaned by their grandmother, and are forced to live with a distant cousin. In it they discover two bothers who are total oppostes and who have secrets themselves. Yet the main question circulating throughout the novel is, who is the true wolf trying to devour the innocent sheep like sisters. If you love mystery and dramam I highly recommend you read this novel.

Justo en ese momento, aparece, como por arte de magia, el supuesto príncipe azul de la historia, quien la rescata y deposita en las manos de su tía, una ex modelo que parece haberse planteado el difícil objetivo de lograr que la muchacha encuentre su belleza interior.

Renata es, sin duda, la novela que más satisfacciones me ha dado. Y no sólo por haber sido una de las más leídas, sino por las reacciones de la gente al recorrer sus páginas. Bastó publicarla para que todos tuvieran algo que decir. Pero todavía me emociono cuando recuerdo las palabras de una muchacha, que habiendo leído el primer capítulo escribió para decirme que ella era Renata. Y de inmediato me contó con lujo de detalles su vida, que coincidía con la historia de los tres capítulos siguientes. Y, como Renata, también ella se encontraba en la encrucijada del capítulo cinco y no sabía cómo proseguir. Claro! Le faltaba leer el final de su propia historia.
Aunque más aún me sorprendieron las palabras de otras muchas lectoras que encontraron en Renata consuelo para una difícil situación personal. Quizás por eso quiero tanto esta novela que voy a compartir con ustedes.

Me encanto, siempre es refrescante leer una historia diferente , donde la protagonista es alguien común ,con inseguridades propias de los tiempos que vivimos, donde se exalta la imagen exterior por sobre el interior ; y la autora nos recuerda de manera sencilla que la mejor belleza surge de sentirse pleno interiormente; porque lo esencial es invisible a los ojos..

Ella crece, no literalmente!

Sin duda el libro va creciendo junto a su protagonista. No literalmente, todo lo contrario. Te obliga a reflexionar sobre la verdadera importancia de la belleza.
SPOILER ALERT!!
Ella, que es insegura, involuntariamente se pone en el papel de víctima porque no tiene la fortaleza de carácter para no dejarse avasallar. Convalida todos los prejuicios envidiando la belleza en vez de apreciarla y se concentra en los otros en vez de en ella misma. Por lo tanto en su cambio, se vuelve frívola. Porque a pesar de que ella sufre la frivolidad del resto, si ella la envidia es porque en definitiva la lleva consigo.
Cada vez me doy más cuenta que me conmueven los reconocimientos que hace un personaje sobre otro que murió prematuramente o que hará un sacrificio muy grande a costa de su propia vida. Y hubo un caso muy conmovedor que avía la vida de la protagonista y le abre los ojos para ver la "APARIENCIA DE LA BELLEZA".
Esta autora siempre tiene algo bueno para enseñarnos o para reflexionar. Y al menos to, siempre termino coincidiendo.

This book provides a backgrond on the fast moving Carrier Ethernet technologies and implementations taking place in the world today. It does focus on North America, however the solutions defined in this book can be applied globally. For those interested in how other technologies provide Ethernet transport, service, and OAM, this book provides a great introduction and overview. Even more important, this book provides insights form industry experts on where a technology would be useful to deploy and where a technology would be ineffective - something most other Carrier Ethernet books do not discuss.

Delivering Carrier Ethernet is an excellent text on the subject. It is well structured, reviewing Ethernet fundamentals, and providing a templeted view of all the EoEverything technologies, without resorting to detailed protocol analysis. It has a good context of the evolution, and technologies. I've been in the carrier provider business for over 20 years, and this is a good as it gets. Multiple contribuors helps - nobody can be an expert across all these developing areas.

Can't wait until carrier Ethernet knocks on my door

I bought the book without really being interested in the topic of carrier Ethernet in the beginning. I just wanted to learn a little bit more about all the buzzwords that I hear (SONET, MPLS, ...). But as I started reading, I realized what a great potential this topic has.

After some introduction, for each technology there is a chapter that explains how it works and what the potential is. It is easy to skip chapters that are already known or not interesting. The description is just an overview. For a real deployment, of course more documentation would be needed. But that is not the focus of the book.

Those guys who are interested how Ethernet and VoIP will look like in a few years should take the time and check this book out.

Getting TRIM and HEALTHY with this amazing cookbook!

I bought this book for my wife who is a Trim Healthy Mama and this is her review:

This is the most beautiful and useful cookbook I have ever owned (and I'm a bit of a collector). First of all, the recipes are SO delicious! I've made over a dozen of them now and none have disappointed. RUN to the kitchen and go make the Chicken Parmy like TONIGHT. It's unbelievable. Secondly, the recipes are SO healthy! I can't believe I can eat such wholesome foods and lose weight at the same time. I've been eating Trim Healthy Mama style (which means I'm eating goooood) for well over two years now, and I've improved my health, increased my energy... while *not* having to deny my sweet tooth or go hungry. No deprivation here - just scrumptious, FUN meals for me and my family!

I realize a lot of people don't like the unusual ingredients. But I wanted to share my take on it. I actually appreciate recipes that taste amazing that have incorporated healthy ingredients like cakes with Whole-Husk Psyllium flakes, sweets made with non GMO sugar alcohols and stevia, added non tasting whey for extra protein, collagen and Gelatin for incredible health benefits, sauces made with Glucomannan or "gluccie" for superb cholesterol levels and regularity, and so many more interesting nutritional ingredients. You are baking and cooking with supplements! You are feeding your family with the most amazing tasting food AND most amazing quality ingredients. I have never seen anything like it.
Some say, the sisters are just trying to sell more food products. Well good for them if they are. This is not a charity or not for profit organization. These families deserve the fruit of their labor. But I actually believe they desire to create the best possible products for both taste and health - not only for their own families, but for this new growing family of mamas. I believe they are genuine and sincere in their passion to see families change for the better. I do not believe they are driven by greed.
I am thrilled with this program and have lost 35 pounds on it. My husband and son love the food and none of us feel we are eating diet food, because well... We are not.
This is the best program I have ever been on and I would much rather see my money go to these precious families than to some random market.
Let's think outside the box. These ladies did and look what they have accomplished. Bravo.

Better tasting recipes & more professional looking but calls for lots of specialty items & calls whey protein dairy free

This is a lovely cookbook, I love the improvements on the recipes and the inclusion of recipes from bloggers and others who have adopted and made the plan even better than it was originally. However, there were a couple of things that are really frustrating. 1) Baking Blend (BB): I realize that the book contains a note in the beginning about BB and that they don't want to you have to buy their name brand products and you can make your own blend, but there are no directions or recipes for it. I know people will probably hate me for saying that, but it's a cookbook, for goodness sake. If you have a ton of recipes that call for special ingredients, maybe having a substitute recipe for that frequently used ingredient would be helpful. (Yes, I know there are recipes on Pinterest, etc., but what a hassle.) I kept seeing these beautiful pictures and thinking, wow, I'd love to try that! Only to find I had no collagen, no oat fiber, no agar, no baking blend, etc. It was incredibly frustrating. I'd already saved up and purchased special ingredients like (super) Sweet Blend, nutritional yeast, xylitol, raw apple cider vinegar and all that after reading the old book, now I have to stock up again on new special ingredients, especially since I need to do this dairy-free. Oh, and I found a canister of beef gelatin locally but it cost $25! This is not helping convince my husband that I can do this on the cheap.lol.

2) Dairy-free: I found something very strange in the cookbook- recipes that were labelled dairy-free, yet called for whey protein? Umm... whey protein is not dairy free. I thought maybe it was a typo for a second, but then found another recipe with the same problem.

Okay, now I have not had the book for long and have only made two recipes from it- the Cry No More Brownies and the Salted Caramel Gluccie Pudding. Yum!! The brownies were lovely and fudgy and I love the secret ingredient in them but they did take a while to make because it called for special ingredient sweeteners and I didn't have them so I had to track down a conversion chart and figure it out first. I do love the more professional look of the book and am very glad to see Serene and Pearl have become so popular. I have followed their mom's ministry for many years and it's so neat to see these ladies who come from a great family now in the spotlight. :)

About the Author
A los nueve años, Stevens comenzó a asistir a los servicios dominicales de la escuela en un templo que enseña Kriya Yoga. Serias recomendaciones para los que piensen practicar Kriya.

Soy iniciado en Kriya Yoga.Actualmente formo parte de SRF en Venezuela.Reconozco que hay muchas personas que dicen ser Kriyabanes y no se portan acordes con las enseñanzas del maestro.
El Libro tiene cosas buenas y tu intención es maravillosa amigo Stevens y en eso te apoyo,quitar el velo de la ignorancia de la humanidad.Las técnicas son buenas,pero se te olvidó algo,el guru interno es la intuición,y como se desarrolla ese gurú interno???Yogananda lo explica a sus estudiantes. Yo recomiendo de todo corazón a las personas que se suscriban a las lecciones de SRF porque en ellas se enseña de manera fácil,didáctica y practica como llevar una vida realizada y feliz.Es el mejor regalo que pudo hacer Babaji a través de Paramahansa a la humanidad.
Por otra parte el vegetarianismo,la devoción a Dios,la iniciación por un gurú es necesaria…Porque? Para poder llegar a niveles de conciencia superiores.Incluso hay muchos casos confirmados de personas que llegaron a la demencia por practicar sin la supervisión de un maestro espiritual fidedigno,ya que, entes oscuros ven la energía que se mueve con la técnica de kriya y al no tener la protección de un guru es como lanzarse al océano en medio de una tormenta sólo porque sabe nadar,dudo que alguien con sentido común cometa esa locura.
En autobiografía de un yogi el maestro dice QUE EL KRIYA SEA TU GURU… el maestro nos indica el camino y como decimos,los atajos para llegar a Dios más rápido,nos aclara las dudas y el éxito está asegurado.El Dogma debe ser erradicado,solo el amor verdadero,la solidaridad,la pureza del corazón y el Kriya bien aplicado salvaran a la humanidad de la autodestrucción.
El Libro es bueno y las técnicas son muy bien explicadas,más repito sin un guía que te oriente es como ir al africa con mapa sin conocer su idioma,su tierra y sus costumbres.Este libro es como un mapa,pero faltan otros elementos indispensables si se quiere avanzar.Recomiendo Autobiografia de un Yogui, el Yoga Shidda de jesus.Por otra parte Yogananda Está vivo y guía su obra a través del espíritu inmortal,recuerda que el cuerpo muere más el alma es infinita.De que Yogananda está en tu corazón y te guía en las acciones nobles que ejecutas eso no puede negarse.Bendiciones.

Excelente trabajo de J. Stevens!

El material incluye una meticulosa recopilación de las técnicas de Kriya tal cual fueran impartidas por Lahiri Mahasaya y luego presentadas por Paramahansa Yoganada al mundo occidental. El autor, como bien se lee en el prefacio, obviamente por años realizó la ardua labor de investigar y analizar los textos originales, y los expone en un libro-cuaderno de actividades fácil de seguir.

Desde las primeras páginas el autor establece un camino conciso así como ciertos principios útiles a seguir. Por ejemplo, no tienes que renunciar a tu religión actual ni dejar de tener una vida en familia ya que como él lo dice, el estilo de vida de familia y obligaciones de trabajo, al ser más difícil fortalecerá la mente, siendo cualidad necesaria para progresar con Kriya.

El libro parece estar destinado tanto al principiante como a quien haya sido iniciado previamente, y desee profundizar en su práctica. Altamente recomendable.

Este libro que tanto he esperado, finalmente ha llegado

Es para aquéllos de nosotros que por años hemos estado en la búsqueda de la paz interior, intentado progresar en la práctica de la meditación, pero también para el principiante que no conoce nada del tema, pero que posee dentro de sí, el anhelo de encontrar un camino hacia la iluminación.
Es interesante destacar, que el libro tiene un cuaderno de actividades para que una persona de hoy día, (tanto el principiante como alguien experimentado) pueda llevar una vida de obligaciones familiares y de trabajo, y al mismo tiempo logre avanzar en el camino de su espiritualidad.
Al principio y al leer la descripción del libro, debo confesar que tenía mis dudas. Sin embargo, la autenticidad y sinceridad del contenido me atrapó y sedujo de manera irrevocable. Las revelaciones aquí presentadas son más valiosas que cualquier ganancia material o monetaria que se pueda imaginar.
