But this combines both, For Healthy Living. I said to my self, why not. I'm sure that in buying this book, many can achieve new heights of health. I recommend this book for anyone who looks forward to living a life without pharamceuticals. Through this the beginner can find freedom in getting to know their bodies better and getting to know their health better; of how to eat and how to move better; of how they respond to different situations throughout their lives, and of course how to use reflexology, an age old technique for restoration to achieve wonderful goals in their health.

update: Since writing this review almost a year and a half ago, I came back to this book to try out some of the techniques in my moment of great need. And I must say, It Works!!! I can not belive what an amazing system reflexology is. Suffering greatly from a depletion in my endocrine system (female troubles), I have been massaging points on my hand and I was astounded at how sore they were and how almost instantly I feel relief. I am shocked that Amazon is no longer selling this book. It's such a heartbreak that many people will not get to use this reference for helping themselves. I hope to see it back someday.

Sunnyside Yard was built by the Pennsylvania Railroad as part of its massive New York Extension, the centerpiece of which was Pennsylvania Station in the heart of Manhattan. Opened in 1910, it is still the world's largest railroad passenger car storage yard. At the height of its operation in the 1930s, there were 79 tracks, with a capacity for 1,100 cars. Hell Gate Bridge was a joint venture of the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New Haven Railroad to construct a direct rail route for trains between New York City and the New England states. The main span is 1,017 feet between the towers, and it rises more than 300 feet from the East River to the top of the towers.

About the Author
David D. Morrison is a retired branch line manager of the Long Island Rail Road, railroad historian, and current cochairman of the Oyster Bay Railroad Station Restoration Committee. He is a charter member of the Railroad Museum of Long Island, as well as the author of five other books, including three Images of Rail titles: Long Island Rail Road Stations, Jamaica Station, and Long Island Rail Road: Port Jefferson Branch.

Good coverage of subject matter. Better than average photo reproduction. Some photos have shown up in prior books, not bad overall, especially if you are from LIC or Astroria NY.

couldn't be a better guide to the subject

"Sunnyside Yard and Hell Gate Bridge," a December 2016 release from Arcadia Publishing, is a delightful 128-page paperback tome, and a worthy addition to their “Images of Rail" series. Author David Morrison, a retired Long Island Railroad operating manager, couldn't be a better guide to the subject. He's written five other books on the LIRR and is a Charter Member of the Railroad Museum of Long Island.

Lavishly illustrated with period as well as contemporary photographs, the book is laden with tidbits of little-known but useful facts and figures for rail fans and railroad historians alike. I never knew where the PRR ended and the New Haven began eastbound from Penn Station: it's Harold Tower, to your left about half a mile east of East River Tunnel portal.

Sunnyside came about because PRR President Andrew Cassatt needed someplace to stage his trains after he got them into Manhattan though his new Hudson River tunnels with the opening of Penn Station in 1910. He also envisioned through PRR cars to New England and a yard in Long Island City was a good start.

Morrison guides us through the process, from siting the East River Tunnels to filling in swamps for the Sunnyside footprint, to the car-float freight connection at Bay Ridge, to completing Hell Gate Bridge in 1917.

On a personal note, Hell Gate Bridge and the New York Connecting Railroad, as the route was officially known, have always been part of my life. Born on Long Island and growing up in Connecticut, and now a Philadelphia-based railroad writer, I have been over the Hell gate bridge many times, in everything from a New Haven commuter making local stops in the Bronx, to the cab of an Amtrak loco. The trip never ceases to amaze, and every trip I see something new.

And now, thanks to David Morrison and Arcadia, I'll know more about what I'm looking at on what I hope will be many more trips through Sunnyside Yard and across Hell Gate Bridge.

Deliciously angsty love triangle and Remy's special snowflake Healer powers develop-- a little light on other plot

Hmm....not sure why I liked the first book in the series so much (since I read it so long ago) that I hung on to finding this book and reading it, too.

So it's got great San Francisco location treats as some action happens in the Presidio, Pacifica, crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, etc. And there's still the romanti-crack relationship between older-stronger Asher and younger-but-powerful Remy (now with added love triangle bonus!).

Remy is definitely more powerful and active and making decisions in this book. She comes into both her powers as a Healer and Protector (see first book for plot explanations, this one isn't really worth your while unless you read the first book and liked it) ends up being able to rush in and save others, which is great. But meanwhile, she's completely oblivious to both how people around her want to use her, and who exactly is trustworthy.

There's also quite a lot of dithering/build up over the fact that Remy and Asher can't touch without both containing their respective powers (although he can always read her mind, awkward!) but then Remy ends up being a "special snowflake" Healer and it seems like all that build up might not be necessary after all. Color me unsure about why they're so afraid of other Protectors....but then end up being able to handle them quite easily.

The love triangle complication that develops at the end saves the book, in my opinion. So deliciously angsty to have boy2 being able to read the mind of his love who is constantly comparing him to boy1. Love that.

I started skimming about 2/3's of the way through the book because there was too much summarizing of time and worrying about dangers that never really materialized as truly dangerous and not enough time dwelling on angsty-ironic-emotional relationships, but it's still a quite fine YA read that has kissing and nothing else so safe for the younger YA set.

One heck of a ride
By A Book Obsession..
I'm honestly at a loss where to begin with this review. The entire book is one giant spoiler in my opinion from the point where she travels to the Healer community on. I mean just the fact that Asher followed her there, should be warning enough, but let me just say it, this book is utterly heart breaking. And while I saw one of the twists coming, there were so many more that completely derailed me. These types of books are so incredibly hard for me to review as there are so many things I would love to talk about, one HUGE thing in my opinion that irrevocably changed a dynamic between the characters. Actually, this one twist is so huge at least to me that I'm going to break one of my rules and have a spoiler section below.

While the world behind this series is really interesting, especially now that more of the secrets behind the Healers have been revealed, it is honestly the characters that steal the show. Remy is so strong and has grown so much. Sure, she's still pretty niave, and quick to jump into the fray without thinking things through first, but honestly that's one of the things I love about her. While the others would prefer her to hold herself back, when someone is injured, she can't help but step up to help them, even though it costs her greatly. When I think back to everything she has endured in her life, it is utterly amazing to me that she hasn't snapped. Luckily now she has the support of her friends and family. From the fiercely protective Asher, to her sister, dad and step-mother, and even Asher's surly siblings, she has backup and the security she never had before. Sure things will never be easy for her because of what she is, but at least she's not alone anymore.

I enjoyed Touched even though it left me with a few frustrations, but PUSHED really took everything a step further, and really cemented my love for this series. In fact, the final installment is easily on my most anticipated list for next year, that's how excited I am for it. So, if you enjoyed Touched, then you will not want to miss this fantastic book as it is one heck of a roller coaster ride from start to finish!

Great sequel!

This sequel was something else. The action never stops, the questions keep coming, and relationships grow from the first. Seriously, this paranormal YA series is GOOD. There were a couple things that made me not like it as much as the first (like Remy's horrible decisions and hard-to-like attitude) but nitpicking aside, this is a great continuation of a much-loved story. Recommend to anyone who likes the genre.
